Venice, 1943. Just prior to Nazi Germany’s `invasion’ of its ally, Italy.

The Second World War is raging, the Allies are storming up from the south of Italy, and racism is festering. Christian-Antonio vs Jew-Shylock.

During war, great fortunes are made and lost. The `financials’ of this world at war underpin the greed of those caught up in it.

Lovers are crossed and come together in this devil-may-care society of `bright, young things’.

Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice is a captivating mix of tragedy and comedy.
